Akers Unloads 4 Bombs in One Game
Thursday, September 1st , 2039
Fans at HCA Park won't soon forget the raw display of power put on by Chicago Cubs second baseman Chris Akers today. Akers smashed 4 home runs in Chicago's 9-5 victory over the Nashville Outlaws.

"To be honest with you, I have never even thought about hitting this many home runs in a game," Akers said to reporters after the game. "Only legends hit this many home runs in a game and I ain't no legend."

In his history-making performance, Akers victimized Nashville hurlers for 4 hits in 5 at-bats with 4 runs scored and 6 RBIs.

"What he did was unbelievable," said Nashville manager Logan Brumley. "My guys gave it their best, but he hit some fine pitches. He was like -- he was in automatic home run mode today. He just had that great swing. It didn't matter what we threw him. It was gone."

Chris Akers hit a solo-shot off Ben Yarbrough in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Ben Yarbrough in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Chris Moore in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Jon McNellis in the 8th.

For the year Akers is batting .308 with 59 home runs, 126 RBIs and 101 runs scored.
