Wood Paces Nationals to 4-1 Win
|
The Washington Nationals topped the Detroit Tigers, 4-1, in American League action at Comerica Park. The standout performance belonged to Washington pitcher and Pecos, New Mexico, native Eric Wood. Alvin Pelto locked down his 5th save. Washington is now 17-9.
Wood made it look easy. He scattered 2 hits over 7 innings, while racking up 9 strikeouts. The right-hander upped his season record to 4-1.
"The vibe's good," said Washington manager Kawika Emsley-Pai. "We've got to keep it going."
