Miami and New York got after it at Marlins Park.

Miami Marlins starter Rob Kerns turned in an exceptional performance against the New York Yankees at Marlins Park, resulting in a Miami win, 4-0. Kerns got the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed 4 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Kerns allowed no runs.

The Yankees had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Marlins going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old center fielder Raul Soliz came to the plate. Soliz hit a solo home run on a 2-1 fastball from New York hurler Brian Gleghorn. It was Soliz's 7th home run of the year.

"I found a nice groove out there," said Kerns.

With the win, Miami improves its record to 9-11.
