Nationals Upend Mets, 7-4
|
Getting offensive support from Ben Thompson, the Washington Nationals topped the New York Mets, 7-4. Thompson was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Nationals. Danny Navarrete picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 1-3. Alvin Pelto collected save number 4.
Irving Cranshaw, who is tied for 6th in the AL in doubles with 7, helped out the Washington cause in the top of the fifth inning with a 2-run double. For the game, the second baseman was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Washington manager Kawika Emsley-Pai.
