Giants Subdue Oakland, 5-3
|
San Francisco beat Oakland on the strength of starter Tyler Gough's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Gough got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 3 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. Gough allowed 1 run. Josh Romero recorded his 6th save for San Francisco.
The Giants got an important contribution from third baseman Aeverson Arteaga, who in the top of the second punched a 2-1 cutter into left for a solo home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Giants ahead, 2-0.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Arteaga after the game.
The Athletics drop to 9-10 and continue their mediocre start to the 2039 season.
