Marlins Drop Another One, 6-1
|
Mike Pfarr left his imprint on the 6-1 Washington win against the Miami Marlins. Pfarr, who is rated as the 19th best prospect by BNN, was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was Eric Wood. He's now 2-1. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits for the Nationals. Alvin Pelto earned the save for Washington, his 3rd of the year.
Pfarr contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Washington in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Pfarr took a changeup from Tony Porraz and stroked the home run to left. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Nationals to leap in front, 2-1.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Pfarr told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
The win leaves Washington with a record of 8-9.
