Minnesota pitcher T.J. Banks did his part in helping his team beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winner was Steve Shelton in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Jonathan Knudsen took the loss. With the win, Minnesota lifts its record to 10-9.

Had Juan Vasquez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Vasquez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Twins.

Banks told a Minnesota News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
