Nationals Mow Down Marlins, 9-2
|
Washington picked up a win at Nationals Park, toppling the Miami Marlins, 9-2. Pitcher Jon Rinehart was one of the reasons the Nationals triumphed. Rinehart picked up the win for Washington, going 6.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. The defeat makes Miami 8-9.
In the bottom of the fourth, Washington center fielder Dan Belk had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Belk stroked a run-scoring single to left. It made the score 1-0, Washington. For the game, he was 2 for 5 with 2 singles.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Belk told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
