Darley Stars in 8-1 Phillies Win
|
The Philadelphia Phillies topped the Arizona Diamondbacks, 8-1, at Citizens Bank Park. Philadelphia second baseman Jimmy Darley was a spark plug for the offense. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Picking up the win was Dave Grooms. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits. The left--hander struck out 3 and walked 1. The loss has the Diamondbacks at 5-6.
With Philadelphia leading 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Darley hit a fastball from Jake Frasco for a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Phillies ahead, 5-1.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Darley. "You've got to get results."
