Yankees Take Down Expos, 4-1
|
The Montreal Expos got a superb performance from pitcher Dylan Kreidel, but the New York Yankees still won the game, 4-1. Kreidel threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Curt Short notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. At 6-1, the Yankees have played well so far.
New York needed the clutch hitting of Gleyber Torres to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the 16th inning to put the Yankees on top, 4-1. For the game, Torres had 1 home run and 1 single in 7 at-bats.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Torres.
