Mariners Snatch Late Win
|
The Seattle Mariners had to overcome a fine effort from San Francisco pitcher Dan Pimentel to grab a narrow 5-3 win at Oracle Park. Pimentel went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Seattle pitcher Melky Luna got the win. He's now 1-0. Josh Romero was tagged with the loss. San Francisco falls to 2-4.
Seattle used a clutch hit from Jon Nanney to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mariners ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Nanney told a Seattle Today reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
