Fans watched the Boston Red Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays fight to the finish.

The Boston Red Sox picked up a win at Rogers Centre, knocking off the Toronto Blue Jays, 5-4. Starting pitcher Rhys Ladd played a key role in the triumph. Boston reliever Pete McDaniel got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Bobby Scalise was tagged with the loss. Bobby Bonetti sewed up the save, his 1st.

Boston used a timely hit from Josh Mink to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Mink told the Boston News.

The win gives Boston a record of 1-1.
