Lutz Propels Texas Offense in 10-3 Rout
|
In the 10-3 Texas win over Seattle, the impact of Gordie Lutz was substantial. Lutz, who is tied for 2nd in the AL with a .969 OPS, went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Jose Cervantes, the winning pitcher, is now 9-12. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 1. The Rangers now have a record of 65-87.
In the bottom of the fourth, Oscar Arroyo delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Texas center fielder hit a 2-run single, putting the Rangers in front, 10-3.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Arroyo said.
