Akers Leads Cubs to 7-6 Win Over Reds
The Chicago Cubs defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 7-6, at Wrigley Field. Chicago second baseman Chris Akers had a superb performance. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 5. The win puts Chicago at 82-59 this season.

Akers contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Chicago in the bottom of the sixth. With his team trailing 6-3, Akers took a cutter from Kevin Herman and stroked the home run to left-center. His 63rd home run of the season allowed the Cubs to leap in front, 7-6.

"We ground out the win," said Akers. "That's all that matters."
