Cardinals Absorb 7-3 Loss at Minute Maid Park
|
A good performance from first baseman Jordan Villa helped the Houston Astros defeat the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-3. Villa was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Astros. Jamie Ray earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 4-2. Houston is now 77-63, St. Louis 79-60.
With Houston leading 2-0 in the bottom of the second, Villa hit a fastball from Hee-seop Kim for a 3-run home run. It was his 28th home run of the season and put the Astros ahead, 5-0.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Villa.
