Boston rode a fine outing from starter Eddy Yean to victory over the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The final score was 4-2. Boston reliever Nick Espinosa picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Jeremy Ress took the loss. Bobby Bonetti nailed down his 39th save.
Boston used a timely hit from Jon Gill to get the win. The left fielder stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"I thought we played a nice game," Yean told the Boston News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The Red Sox sit in first place in the American League East Division with a record of 86-43.
