|
St. Louis Cardinals starter Brad Quintero turned in a top-notch performance against the New York Mets at Busch Stadium. The result was a win for the Cardinals, 8-1. Quintero, now 10-6, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. With the win, St. Louis pushed its record to 72-54.
Joe Denham helped his team take an early lead with a 2-run double. It came in the first inning, making the score 3-0, Cardinals.
"I thought we were prepared," New York manager Matt Young said after the game. "I thought we'd be more competitive out there."
