Rangers Take Down Blue Jays, 4-2
|
The Texas Rangers dumped the Toronto Blue Jays, 4-2, in large part due to left fielder Josh Kelly. On the day, Kelly went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Rangers. Texas reliever C.J. Tomich picked up the win, raising his record to 3-1. Donnie Brown was tagged with the loss. Dan Blystone nailed down his 2nd save.
Kelly came through with some timely hitting for Texas. With Toronto trailing 2-1 in the top of the seventh, Kelly hit a 1-0 fastball for a 3-run home run. His 7th home run of the season made it 4-2, Texas.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Kelly told a Texas Chronicle reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
With this game in the books, Texas is 50-71, Toronto 54-68.
