Aherns Blasts Yankees, Expos Take Game 4, 9-8
|
Already down in the League Championship Series, the Montreal Expos put on their best show, beating the New York Yankees by a final score of 9-8 today. Ethan Aherns was special. He went 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Montreal now trails New York 3-1 in the best-of-7 affair.
Tony Guerra was the walk-off hero for Montreal. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Expos right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I like to lead by example," said Guerra. "I'm glad I could contribute to a good win."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Gary Carter Field in Montreal.
