Yankees Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-0
The New York Yankees went into extra innings against the Montreal Expos but ultimately moved to within one game of the World Series today. The Yankees downed the Expos at Gary Carter Field by a score of 3-2. New York right-hander Tyler Gough had a solid outing. He threw 5.1 innings allowing 1 runs. The win gives the Yankees a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.

New York relied on the bat of Jonathan Battee to get the win. The left fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Yankees ahead, 3-2. For the game, Battee had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Gough.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Gary Carter Field in Montreal.
