Reds Escape Braves in 12, Now Lead Series 2-1
|
The Cincinnati Reds nearly wasted a strong game from starter Sandy Severino, but were saved by some timely hitting in a 12th inning walk-off win over the Atlanta Braves today.
Severino pitched well in the 4-1 win at Great American Ball Park. He threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The win allowed Cincinnati to seize a 2-1 lead in the best-of-5 Division Series.
Cincinnati won the game in the bottom of the 12th inning. With two outs and Alex Molina on the mound for Atlanta, left fielder Tim Lutz hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Reds fans to their feet.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Cincinnati manager Daniel Butler.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
