Home Field Advantage: Guevara, New York Open League Championship Series with Win
The New York Yankees started the League Championship Series in style today, downing the visiting Montreal Expos at Yankee Stadium by a score of 10-3 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Yankees first baseman Manny Guevara was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3.

The Yankees took the lead in the bottom of the first when Danny Herrick banged a two-out home run. New York had been trailing 1-0, but Herrick hit a 1-1 fastball from Eric Wood for a 3-run home run.

"It's on me," said Expos manager Mark Kotsay. "The guys I sent out there today were the wrong ones for the situation. I'll be sure to send the right ones out next time."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Yankee Stadium in New York.
