Garabitos, Cardinals Take Dramatic Game 1 for 1-0 Series Lead
|
The St. Louis Cardinals started the Wildcard in dramatic fashion today, stealing Game 1 from the Miami Marlins in a walk-off in the 10th inning. St. Louis took the 2-1 win thanks in large part to a good day from starter Natanael Garabitos. The right-hander threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball in the win, which gave the Cardinals a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-3 series.
Juan Colato won the game for St. Louis when homered off Dave Boscarino in the bottom of the tenth.
Marlins manager Wilfredo Arano did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the World Series."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
