Mariners Topple Astros, 7-1, as McKay Shines
|
Getting a good performance from catcher Mike McKay, the Seattle Mariners defeated the Houston Astros, 7-1. McKay was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Mariners. The win belongs to Josh O'Neal in relief. His record improves to 4-5. Pat Reeves took the loss for Houston. Seattle is 7th in the National League West Division with a record of 49-66.
McKay made an early impact for Seattle when he stroked his 11th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came in the bottom of the third, put the Mariners on top, 4-0.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Seattle manager John Foley.
