Astros Beat Mariners, 7-5
|
The Houston Astros overcame a fine performance by Seattle left fielder Hiromi Yano to defeat the Mariners, 7-5, at T-Mobile Park. Yano went 4-5 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Mike Simpkins picked up the save for Houston, his 1st of the year. The loss makes Seattle 48-66.
In the top of the first, Josh McCoy ambushed a 0-1 curveball from Danny Alfaro and hit a 2-run home run. It gave Houston a quick 2-0 lead.
"It wasn't our best performance," said McCoy, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
