Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Astros
|
The Houston Astros scored a tight 5-4 win versus the Washington Nationals at Minute Maid Park. Houston pitcher Andry Lara held his own in the contest. Mike Simpkins earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. His record is now 2-0. The Astros, at 62-53, sit in 6th place in the National League West Division.
The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the 18th, with Houston trailing 4-3, Kaito Kozono jumped on a 2-1 fastball from Bobby Fish for a 2-run home run, sending the Astros to a walk-off win.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Lara.
