Extra-Inning Win by Nationals Over Astros
|
The Washington Nationals had to overcome a good performance from Houston pitcher Victor Ramos to claim a 2-1 win at Minute Maid Park. Ramos went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Alvin Pelto snagged the win in relief. In 2 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 3-4 on the season. Mike Van Vliet converted his 2nd save in 2 tries.
Both team had trouble scoring runs. So, Irving Cranshaw's at-bat in the top of the 12th was critical. With no one out, the Washington second baseman hit a sacrifice fly, to give his team a 2-1 lead.
"Exhilarating win," said Cranshaw.
The Nationals improve their record to 72-39 with the win over Houston.
