Phillies Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Philadelphia Phillies and Oakland Athletics.
The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Oakland Athletics, 4-3, in 11 innings. Philadelphia shortstop Josh Woolverton, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. Philadelphia is now 56-49, while Oakland is 50-56.
Woolverton had a game-changing home run in the top of the 11th. On a first pitch fastball from Jonas Natividad, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Phillies a 4-3 lead. It was the 15th home run of the year for Woolverton.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Philadelphia manager Matt Hagen.
