Royals Top Braves in 12
|
With third baseman Tony Saxon leading the charge, the Kansas City Royals defeated the Atlanta Braves, 9-8, at Kauffman Stadium. Saxon, who finished 5th in the AL in doubles with 39 in 2037, was 3-5 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Jose Fernandez, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on no hits. Kansas City has now won 3 in a row.
The Royals relied on right fielder Juan Morales for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 12th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Chris Graves, the Kansas City skipper. "This one tested us."
