Spiders Need Extra Innings to Top Giants, 4-2
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Cleveland Spiders got the win.
The Cleveland Spiders faced a tough opponent in San Francisco pitcher Ron Lunde, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Oracle Park by a final score of 4-2. Lunde went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Victor Vargas was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.
Kevin Malec helped out the Cleveland cause in the top of the fourth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the second baseman was 2-6 with a double.
"It was a solid team effort," said Malec after the game.
The win puts Cleveland at 59-43 this season.
