Nationals Dump Montreal, 3-1, to Win 5th in a Row
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Washington Nationals and the Montreal Expos, Skylar Farrington was the difference-maker. The Washington right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Farrington, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 1, walking 4, and allowing no runs. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for Washington.
Washington used the clutch hitting of Jacob Holloway to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Nationals the lead, 1-0. For the game, Holloway had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Washington manager Kawika Emsley-Pai said.
