Blue Jays Hang 7-0 Loss on Twins
|
Toronto starter Luis Flores put a stranglehold on the Minnesota offense. The left-hander had complete command of his sinker in leading the Blue Jays to a 7-0 win. Flores, the winner, moves to 3-4. He threw 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 3 walks. The Blue Jays, at 40-53, sit in 6th place in the American League East Division.
The Blue Jays got an important contribution from catcher Chris Allen, who in the bottom of the fourth punched a 1-0 curveball into left for a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Blue Jays ahead, 6-0.
"I thought we played a nice game," Allen told the Toronto Daily. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
