Late Rally by Giants Locks Up 8-4 Win
|
The San Francisco Giants beat the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 8-4. San Francisco left fielder Michael Rios deserved the lion's share of the credit. Rios was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the Giants. The National League West Division-leading Giants have a record of 58-34.
San Francisco used the timely hitting of Cesar Fantini to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Giants on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was a solid team effort," said Fantini after the game.
