Reds Need Extra Innings to Top Braves, 4-3
|
The 4-3 Cincinnati win over Atlanta was due in large part to Joe Blankenship. The Reds right fielder went 4-6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Abraham Uresti snagged the win in relief. In 2 innings, the left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 4-3 on the season. Cincinnati has now won 3 in a row.
Cincinnati needed the clutch hitting of Juan Higuero to notch the win. The center fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Reds on top, 4-3. For the game, Higuero had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Blankenship. "And not try to do too much."
