Astros Fall Short, 2-1, at Los Angeles
|
Dodger Stadium hosted a real pitchers' duel.
Isaias Orta pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Houston Astros, despite Orta's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Chris Chambers sewed up the save, his 19th.
The Dodgers got a big hit from second baseman Juan Vasquez. In the bottom of the fifth, Vasquez pounded a run-scoring double to right-center. His 20th double of the season put the Dodgers ahead, 2-0.
"This was a tough loss," said Houston manager Aaron Shafer. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
The win makes Los Angeles 54-34.
