Mariners Beat St. Louis, 5-4
|
St. Louis got a valiant performance from pitcher Brad Quintero, but it wasn't enough to beat the Seattle Mariners. Seattle won the game, 5-4. Quintero threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Seattle reliever Victor Gardea picked up the win to move to 1-1. Michael Davinni suffered the loss. The Mariners now have a mark of 38-49.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Seattle trailing 4-2, Jarred Kelenic hit a sinker from Michael Davinni for a 3-run home run, giving the Mariners the walk-off win.
"We'll savor this win," Kelenic told the Seattle Today, "then get ready for the next game."
