Extra-Inning Win by Cardinals Over Mariners
|
Seattle got a big-time effort from pitcher C.J. Brimhall, but it wasn't enough to keep the St. Louis Cardinals from winning the game, 6-2. Brimhall threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. Josh Bowers earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 4-7. The Mariners have now dropped 5 straight.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Fernando Tatis Jr. came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Seattle pitcher Steve Delgado, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting St. Louis on top, 3-2.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Tatis Jr..
