Yankees Roll to 9-2 Win Over Royals
The New York Yankees topped the Kansas City Royals, 9-2, in American League action at Yankee Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of New York third baseman Bobby Valdez. At 52-29, New York is in second place in the American League East Division.

With New York leading 3-0 in the bottom of the second, Valdez hit a fastball from Jimmy Granitto for a bases-clearing double. It was his 21st double of the season and put the Yankees ahead, 6-0.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said New York skipper Jose Mosquera.
