500 Homers for Figueroa
|
Cincinnati's 10-1 victory over Seattle was highlighted by Juan Figueroa's 500th career home run. His teammates congratulated him at home plate after he circled the bases.
"I didn't see all of them out there," Figueroa said with a chuckle, "until I rounded third base." He added sheepishly: "It was only a home run. It's not like I won us a World Series!"
In 5 at-bats the Reds first baseman collected 2 hits in his historic game, scored 1 run, and had 5 RBI.
In 1764 games, Figueroa is a lifetime .298 hitter. He has knocked in 1418 runs, scored 1154 times, hit 500 home runs, walked 404 times and has an on-base percentage of .345.
