Fading Mets Lose 7th Straight
|
The Chicago Cubs topped the New York Mets by the score of 6-4, with the largest share of the credit going to second baseman Chris Akers. Akers went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Cubs. Chicago has now won 4 games in a row.
Chicago used a timely hit from Chris Burch to get the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Cubs ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," Burch told the Chicago Chronicle.
