Brewers Go Down to Defeat, 5-2
|
The Cardinals grabbed a win, 5-2, at Miller Park, overcoming a fine effort from Milwaukee pitcher Jose Claustro. Claustro went 5.2 innings and allowed 4 runs. The win belongs to Brad Lachance in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jose Claustro took the loss for Milwaukee. With the win, St. Louis upped its record to 39-38.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Steve Haag? The St. Louis shortstop had a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Cardinals on top, 2-0. For the game, Haag had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"They played a better game than we did," said Milwaukee skipper Shawn Blackwell.
