Phillies Saddle Nationals with 3-2 Loss
|
The Philadelphia Phillies picked up a win at Citizens Bank Park, knocking off the Washington Nationals, 3-2. On the mound for Philadelphia was right-hander Edwin Davila, who played a pivotal role in the win. Davila, now 5-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Earning his 23rd save for Philadelphia was Mike Daugherty.
Making an impact for Philadelphia was Raul Toledo. In the bottom of the seventh inning, the 34-year old catcher had a run-scoring sacrifice fly to make the score 3-1, Phillies.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Phillies manager Matt Hagen, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
The second-place Phillies have a record of 41-28.
