Big Day for Hirsch in 11-8 Marlins Win
|
Miami and Cleveland took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
In a high-scoring game between Miami and Cleveland, second baseman Nate Hirsch was a difference-maker. The 26-year-old helped Miami grab the 11-8 win. He went 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 4 runs. Tony Porraz was the winner. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Manny Gonzales? The Miami left fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Marlins on top, 6-3. For the game, Gonzales had 1 double and 2 singles in 6 at-bats.
Marlins manager Wilfredo Arano wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
The Marlins now have a mark of 30-39.
