Houston Topples Texas, 9-7
|
Jordan Villa added some punch to the Houston offense, helping them outmuscle the Texas Rangers, 9-7. In the game, Villa, who is tied for 9th in the NL in home runs with 18, hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Jared Krajenka got the save, the 6th for him this season. Their 32-35 record puts the Astros 6th in the National League West Division.
The result might have been different, had it not been for Bob Barraza, the Houston second baseman. Barraza had a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Astros ahead, 9-4. For the game, Barraza had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Villa, "but we got it done."
