Astros Topple Mariners, 4-2
|
Houston beat Seattle on the strength of starter Pat Reeves's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-2. In 5 innings, Reeves surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Josh Juel was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 11 save opportunities.
Bob Barraza came through for Houston when he hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a two-strike fastball to right field, staking his team to a 3-2 lead.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Houston manager Aaron Shafer. "It's usually not just one thing."
The Astros' win now puts them at 31-35.
