Tigers Sneak Past Yankees, 2-1
|
New York got a terrific performance from pitcher Cesar Soto, but it wasn't enough to beat the Detroit Tigers. Detroit won the Comerica Park contest, 2-1. Soto threw 8.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. Rory Beresford, now 2-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. With the win, Detroit has a record of 23-39. New York falls to 38-24.
Jonathan Schuster was the walk-off hero for Detroit. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Tigers catcher hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.
"The house was rockin'," said Schuster.
