Yankees Drop 3-1 Decision to Nationals
|
The Washington Nationals topped the New York Yankees, 3-1, with youngster Doug Feger playing a key role. Feger was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Nationals in the win. Picking up the win was Eric Wood. He went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits. The right--hander struck out 7 and walked 3. After today's action, Washington sits at 29-22; New York slips to 36-16.
Feger contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Washington in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Feger took a fastball from Cesar Soto and stroked the home run to left. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Nationals to leap in front, 2-1.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Feger told the Washington Daily News.
