Cleveland starter Daniel Higuera pitched well against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 2-0. Higuera got the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 3 hits and walked 0 over 5 innings. Higuera allowed no runs. Keith Tate finished the game for Cleveland and earned his 11th save.
Cleveland relied on the hitting of Mike Stiles to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Spiders on top, 1-0. For the game, Stiles had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Aaron Shafer.
With the win, Cleveland pushed its record to 25-19.
