Yankees Collect 6-2 Win Over Mariners
|
The New York Yankees beat the Seattle Mariners, 6-2, at Yankee Stadium. The win was due in part to designated hitter Gleyber Torres, who was 1-2 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. New York reliever Edgar Leal picked up the win to move to 3-0. Juan Gutierrez suffered the loss. Seattle has now lost 5 consecutive games.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 13th. With two out, Torres hit a fastball from Juan Gutierrez for a grand slam home run. The Yankees, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"The ending was a real humdinger," Torres told reporters after the game.
