Nationals Upend Giants, 5-2
|
The Washington Nationals picked up a win at Oracle Park, taking down the San Francisco Giants, 5-2. Starting pitcher Eric Wood was a big reason why. Wood picked up the win for Washington, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 5-1. Jim Esparza was credited with the save for Washington, his 3rd of the season.
Irving Cranshaw, the 2038 AL batting champion , had a direct impact on the outcome. Cranshaw contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Washington up, 3-1.
Cranshaw said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
With the win, the Nationals hiked their record to 22-14.
